A malájziai születésű Mavin Khoo a londoni kortárs táncélet egyik legfiatalabb sztárja. A klasszikus indiai tánccal (odissi és bharata natyam) még gyerekként megismerkedő koreográfus Londonban és New Yorkban folytatott balett és kortárs tánc tanulmányokat. Koreográfiáiban a két klasszikus irányzat, a távol-keleti és az európai tánckultúrák ötvözéséből alkot egyedi, kifinomult és rendkívül izgalmas mozgásanyagot. A huszonéves táncos Wayne McGregor, Akram Khan és Shobana Jeyasingh társulatában dolgozott, mielőtt másfél évvel ezelőtt létrehozta saját társulatát. Budapesten az idén októberben Londonban készült második önálló darabjával mutatkozik be.

Malaysian-born Mavin Khoo is one of the youngest stars of the contemporary dance scene in London. Having encountered the classical Indian dance forms odissi and bharata natyam as a child, he studied ballet in London as well as modern dance in New York. By merging the two classical styles and the dance traditions of the far-East and Europe, Khoo creates a unique, refined and highly exciting set of movements in his choreographies. The twenty-odd year old dancer worked in the companies of Wayne McGregor, Akram Khan and Shobana Jeyasingh before setting up his own ensemble just a year and a half ago. He debuts in Budapest with his second piece, which premiered in London in October, this year.
